New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners Honors Demeter's Pantry/Taste of Crete LLC as one of the NJAWBO 30 winners in 2008
Bridgewater, NJ (PRWEB) May 22, 2008 -- To celebrate its 30th year, the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) selected a group of 30 leading business women n recognition of their entrepreneurial achievements. Esther Luongo Psarakis, Managing Partner of Demeter's Pantry/Taste of Crete LLC was honored as one of these successful women entrepreneurs.
"I am honored to receive this recognition from the leading woman's organization in New Jersey. I joined NJAWBO when I launched my original company, Taste of Crete," said Esther Luongo Psarakis. "My membership has been an important resource for my business. Networking events and classes have helped me build a strong, successful import company. Most useful, has been NJAWBO's Middlesex-Somerset Marketing Club. Dynamic speakers and experienced participants make the meeting a constant source of actionable ideas that positively affect my business."
In 2005 Ms. Psarakis met Maria Kardamaki Robertson, the founder of Demeter's Pantry. They worked closely together throughout 2006 and merged the two companies at the start of 2007. Because Demeter is the Greek Goddess of Agriculture and the protector of women, they opted to continue to do business under the name Demeter's Pantry as a fitting name for a woman owned company. Taste of Crete continues as the in-house brand. The Taste of Crete line includes award winning extra virgin olive oil as well as Evangelia's Traditional Greek Cookies.
Demeter's Pantry is a women-owned company specializing in importing artisanal, natural and organic products from Greece and creating products based on traditional family recipes. They were 2007 finalists in American Express' Make Mine a Million Business Program for Women Entrepreneurs. More recently, Demeter's Pantry won the 2007 Small Business Vitality Award from the Somerset Business Partnership. In addition they won the Success Award for the Somerset- Hunterdon County Small Business Development Center.
