Local Foster Carer Receives Long Service Award
(PRWeb) February 11, 2007 -- As a foster carer with Foster Care Associates (FCA) North Wales, Tony Marshall received a long service award at a celebratory event held last month. He was praised for the enormous support he has given to looked after children and young people in bringing stability, security and happiness into their lives.
With 12 years experience, Tony began fostering with his local authority. For two years he fostered as a single male carer and has offered many placements to young males, many of whom came from disadvantaged backgrounds and sometimes displayed challenging behaviour.
As a keen sportsman and a member of the Colwyn Bay Rugby Club, Tony's enthusiasm and commitment to these young people has turned many of their lives around. He is very proactive in encouraging young people placed in his care to get involved in sport.
Tony commented: "During the past 12 years my role as a foster carer has been an extremely rewarding experience but for me the real reward is seeing these foster children achieve success and enjoy life."
"Working with FCA I have all the back-up needed to do the job and the reassurance that a team of professionals are just a phone call away. I'm thrilled to receive this award which is a great boost to my confidence and the role I play in helping to shape positive futures for the children and young people I care for."
Mick Sams, regional director at FCA north Wales said: "Tony has shown such determination in providing truly first class foster care. His unswerving commitment is a credit to FCA and the work which the organisation carries out."
"We are proud to have such a wonderful carer and hope that Tony will continue to be part of our team for many years to come."
